This space started out not as a bathroom at all. Originally an exterior porch that was poorly closed in some decades ago, this area had floors that sloped downward to the outside for rainwater drainage. Great for a porch, but I’m not trying to have my shampoo roll away from me. As with the downstairs, this whole exterior wall was super thin and rotten so off it went. The floor was leveled and a new exterior wall was built, relocating/rebuilding 2 of the windows.
We flopped around the entrance to the bathroom, being able to reuse the existing door and trim. There was a window into the now master bedroom from this area (interior windows were a trend in this house apparently).
My husband actually chose these mirrors for the vanity (can you believe I allowed another’s input?!) When the windows were rebuilt, we were able to use the mirrors to set the scale and dimensions of the windows. The mirrors were purchased at Charles Phillips Antiques and are made from an antique door.
For the shower enclosure, I was set on the look of a black steel frame but a true custom steel shower enclosure was out of my budget so we worked with a glass company to create this all-glass enclosure which features a ceramic painted grid within the glass. (Hello easy cleaning!)
I know it’s basic but I love an all white bathroom. Some days I question if it’s too much white and consider painting the walls but the brightness and homogeny of it really makes me so happy.
I was hesitant at first about mixing marble tile, ceramic tile, and quartz countertops but it turned out perfectly cohesive.
Do I regret marble tile in my shower with miles of white grout lines? Why yes I do! Sometimes when I can’t seem to scrub out the grime with marble approved cleaners, I break out the bleach. I know, it’s like taking Tylenol for a hangover and someday it will catch up to me. Until then, I’m going to sinfully enjoy my white grout and wine.
