Hey y’all, I’m Missouri (yep, like the state) and welcome to State of Steals.
Being born with a trust fund makes it so easy for me to stay home and shop endlessly. JUST KIDDING! Y’all, I work full time and totally appreciate what it’s like to decorate on a budget. I am no stranger to Craiglist furniture and turning to DIY options because I can’t afford the real deal. My mantra is “never pay full price”. For me, finding designer style at an attainable price point is my mission in all things I do, and with State of Steals, I’ll be sharing those finds with you.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Construction Management and I currently work full time in the construction/design industry. My husband and I remodeled our historic southern home in Mobile, Alabama in 2018. When you have a shoestring budget, furnishing an entire house at once can be daunting, but it taught me that if you know where to look, you can have a home that you love and are proud of!
My personal design style is Transitional. I’m as passionate about antiques as I am historic architecture. I think every room needs aged pieces to ground it and I love mixing in modern touches to keep things interesting. I’m a full believer in buying pieces that speak to you, even if they’re not necessarily on theme in a particular room. There is beauty in the mix-match.
Follow along as I share Steals vs. Splurges on home furnishings, share DIY tips (and lessons learned from DIY fails), and open the doors of my house to you.
